Rite Ventures is a venture capital firm based in Stockholm founded 2007, Sweden. We primarily invest in Nordic internet companies in their start-up or expansion phases but can be opportunistic when we find compelling opportunities. We involve ourselves actively in our portfolio companies and support the entrepreneurs in their work. We invest for the long-term.
As an early-stage investor, we foster relationships by playing an active role in helping entrepreneurs build companies from ground zero. As part of our commitment to the success of clients in every stage of development, we place one of our partners on the board of directors of each of our portfolio companies. We are accessible, involved board members, continually tapping into the services of our strong network of contacts with customers, management teams and IT professionals in the service provider, equipment and enterprise marketplaces. Our active management style has helped entrepreneurs realize long-term growth and prosperity.
August Capital was founded in 1995 by Dave Marquardt and John Johnston. Seasoned veterans of the venture capital industry, Marquardt and Johnston formed August Capital to invest in companies differentiated by technical innovation and entrepreneurial excellence. Today, August Capital's six partners -- Marquardt, Johnston, Andy Rappaport, David Hornik, Vivek Mehra and Howard Hartenbaum -- have more than a century of combined venture and operational experience. Together they manage $1.3 Billion and have invested in more than 75 companies across the technology spectrum.
From its inception, August Capital has funded an extraordinary group of entrepreneurs who have built significant, long-term value across the full range of information technologies. The companies that August Capital's partners have backed represent an aggregate market capitalization of well over $250 billion, generate in excess of $75 billion in annual revenue and employ a quarter of a billion people around the world. This success is a testament to the entrepreneurs themselves, as well as the fundamental technologies they have created. We are proud to have supported these entrepreneurs and their companies as they have grown and prospered.
Investment:
Our investment philosophy is to seek out and invest in companies that possess exceptional management teams, have an opportunity to become market leaders in their categories and whose greatest potential for growth lies ahead of them. We invest thematically, focusing our time and effort on developing deep domain expertise in any sector where we invest. We will invest in companies at the seed stage, to later stage companies with more established businesses. More specifically, in life sciences we invest in companies developing therapeutics that address significant unmet medical needs, with a well defined mechanism of action, and clinical and regulatory strategy. In technology, we focus on disruptive business models and technologies in sectors where we possess unique insights and domain expertise. We typically will invest anywhere between $6 million to $18 million over the life of a company.
Invest in early-stage companies.
Geography – Focus on the Midwest and Northeast, while investing throughout the US and Canada when other investment criteria are met.
Targeted Industries – Technology companies serving the media & marketing industries; healthcare companies, including healthcare services, specialty providers, and clinical-stage drug and device companies; software companies; and technology-enabled business service companies.
